Venetian Castle

In Peparethos, the oldest settlement on the island, the Venetian Castle, which was restored by the Venetians in the 13th century, rises just above an old castle of the classical period. The remains of the Castle’swallsare still preserved today.

 

 

 

 

 

To reach the Castle, you will have to walk up the steps next to Panayitsa of Pyrgos Church (Virgin Mary of the Tower) which is located on the edge of the old port of Skopelos. If you choose this remarkable route, apart from its significant archaeological importance, you will be able to enjoy a magnificent view.

 

 

 

 

 

Strolling through the narrow labyrinth of cobblestones in the Kastro (Castle) district, you will feel like you are traveling back in time, in Byzantium, or even in the pirate days!
